Today I was so incredibly proud to be a woman. Not just a woman but a military woman – an Army woman!
I hosted a conference call with several of the new coauthors for my latest two Camouflaged Sisters book projects. I am excited about these projects because women will be sharing their stories with the masses – in their own words. Instead of wondering what it’s like to be a Latina woman in the military, we get to hear it from the very women who experience it. Instead of wondering what it’s like to suffer through a traumatic experience while serving in the military, we’ll hear the details of the traumatic experiences, the emotions of the women who experienced it and how they came out of their situations triumphantly.
I am so humbled and honored to be heading these projects. I am more in awe of the women who have joined these projects. Not only are these women courageous, they are passionate about helping other women. It takes immeasurable strength to share a story of domestic violence, sexual assault, depression, and so much more.
There are an estimated 2 million women Veterans in the US. Our stories may be different but we do share many similarities in our military experiences. One thing is for sure – we ALL have a story to share as a result of our military experience.
Be on the lookout for the next two #CamouflagedSisters books later this year. And if you are a woman serving or have served with a story that is sure to inspire your #SistersinArms, contact me for opportunities to join these or future writing projects. #Salute
